About Us
Following the ABA Water Law Conference, Jennifer joined other members of the American Bar Association to work at The Urban Farm at Stapleton in Denver, Colorado. The Urban Farm was founded in 1993 as a means to encourage youth to respect people, animals, plants, and the environment while helping them to find a home for their interests and passions. We received a tour of its greenhouse, met various animals, and cleaned out a storage barn, while enjoying the springtime weather.
Family and friends joined us at the L.A. Regional Food Bank on February 23rd for our first volunteer effort of 2019. We joined dozens of others to help address the food insecurity faced by thousands of Southern Californians every month. Collectively, we packed hundreds of boxes of dried food goods so that families in need could have several days of pasta, canned fruit and veggies, tuna, milk, juice and cereal. It was non-stop work, but a lot of fun as well.
Jennifer judged the CLA Environmental Law Section's Annual Student Negotiations Competition, hosted by UCLA School of Law. Teams of students were given real-world fact patterns and asked to negotiate mock environmental disputes, while being judged on their ability to recognize their clients' needs, identify areas of potential agreement, and work towards resolutions.
Jennifer judged the CLA Environmental Law Section's Annual Student Negotiations Competition, hosted by UCLA School of Law. Along with other attorneys, judges, and mediators in the environmental law field, Jennifer observed two-person teams of California law students engage in a mock negotiation of environmental disputes based upon real world cases. Judges provided feedback to the students on how their demeanor, strategies, and results would fare in actual mediations, and offered advice about the environmental law field.

On September 20th, our team came together at Cabrillo Beach for California Coastal Cleanup Day. Under clear skies, we combed the sand, rocks, and kelp beds, removing debris and collecting items that didn't belong on the shoreline. By the end of the cleanup, the team had gathered six pounds of trash—our small but meaningful contribution to
protecting the local coastline. - September 2025
Megan and three fellow attorneys shared their diverse career journeys with students in Loyola Law School’s Environmental Law Society. For nearly 15 years, Megan has championed environmental law—but her path wasn’t always linear! From corporate event planning to athletics compliance and even television production, her story proved that unconventional experiences can fuel meaningful legal careers. – April 2025
We rolled up our sleeves for Earth Day at White Point Nature Preserve, tackling invasive species and planting 50 new native plants in the demonstration garden. Between the teamwork and that breathtaking ocean view, it was the perfect way to give back to the planet. Proof that a little dirt under our nails can lead to big ecological wins! - April 2025
This Friendsgiving, we traded turkey for teamwork at the Los Angeles Mission. Together, we assembled 144 hygiene packs (weighing in at 77 pounds!) and delivered them to Skid Row residents. A small gesture with a big impact-because everyone deserves dignity, especially during the holidays. - November 2024
Nichole and Jaliyah took part in the 2024 EXP Mock Interviews, helping 11th-grade students from Gardena High School prepare for employer interviews. EXP, a Southern California nonprofit, connects industry and schools to offer students career-based curriculum and mentorship.

When the California Lawyers Association wanted to spotlight lawyers helping out in the community during these uncertain times, Jennifer was touched to be asked to share her experience handing out school breakfasts and lunches at her local YMCA. Megan and Suzanne helped the Los Angeles-based non-profit EXPerience by conducting mock interviews of high school juniors and teaching them what to expect from an interview, how to respond to challenging questions, using positive body language, staying focused, the importance of cover letters, and how to have confidence through the process. EXPerience was founded in 1999 by maritime industry leaders to bridge the gap
between the port industry's need for a skilled workforce and a local high school's struggle to graduate students. Since then, it has grown from a single high school to 10 schools in four school districts and engages industry sectors beyond maritime and international trade.
To mark our firm's anniversary-and honor the late President Jimmy Carter's lifelong advocacy-we donated to Habitat for Humanity. Operating in 70+ countries, Habitat transforms lives through partnerships between homeowners, volunteers, and builders. Here's to safe housing and stronger communities! - June 2024
World Central Kitchen (WCK) is a nonprofit founded by Chef José Andrés in 2010 to provide fresh meals in crisis zones, starting with his relief efforts after Haiti's earthquake. The organization believes food is a basic human right and delivers comfort through meals prepared with care, respecting local traditions and communities. Beyond emergency response, WCK also invests in long-term solutions like clean cooking programs and culinary training to strengthen food resilience. Guided by the idea that chefs are as vital as doctors in disasters, the charity continues to bring hope and nourishment to people in their darkest moments.
